High Twist, Semi Wool or Satin? Choosing an Office Trouser Fabric
The three office trouser fabrics we get asked about most — what actually differs, which one is opaque without running hot, and which suits your week.

The question we get most is not about sizing. It is about cloth: "which one is
not hot, but not see-through either?"
That is the right question, because most dress trousers win on one axis only.
Thick means hot. Cool means sheer. The fabric you pick decides which one you
give up.
High Twist
The name comes from the process: the yarn is twisted tighter before it is
woven. Three things follow from that.
- Opaque without being heavy
- Recovers its shape after folding or a long sit
- Breathes better, so it does not get clammy
High Twist is the answer to the problem above — it solves both sides at once.
For someone sitting 8–10 hours a day, commuting, then walking into a meeting,
it is the safest choice.

Semi Wool and Silk Wool
Both are wool blends, and they hang heavier than High Twist — the drape is
more pronounced, and they are warmer.
- Semi Wool — smooth surface, denser structure. Suits a day in
- Silk Wool — shinier and smoother again. Suits more formal occasions:
If you work in a cold office, both feel fine. If you are often outside or
commuting without air-conditioning, High Twist makes more sense.

Satin
Satin is not for dress trousers — it is for chinos. The surface is smooth and
slightly lustrous, so the chino reads dressier than a cotton chino without
looking like a suit trouser.
It is the choice for a day that does not require dress trousers but does not
permit looking too relaxed. See
Satin Chino Pants from the Exoder line.
The short version

Choosing in ten seconds
Ask yourself three things:
- How often am I outside air-conditioning? Often -> High Twist.
- How formal is the occasion? Very -> Silk Wool.
- Do I want a dress trouser or a chino? Chino -> Satin.
What this piece does not cover
Every product page states its own fabric composition and its own
measured size chart in centimetres. The figures here guide the choice; the
figures on the product page are the specification of the thing you are buying.
As with all our trousers, sizes are cut in production tiers — 27-32 and 33-38
across the range, plus 39-44 for dress pants. Not one pattern scaled up.
If you are still unsure, send your height and weight through the chat on the
product page. We will suggest the size, with the arithmetic behind it.

Trousers are what we work on. That is exactly why this part of the job — the
cloth — is the part we take most seriously. See the
